NHS 111:

Non-urgent enquiries on weekday evenings/nights from 6.30pm to 8.00am, at weekends and on Bank Holidays will be dealt with by NHS 111 on 111. If you are unwell in the evening, overnight or at the weekend contact NHS 111 by telephoning 1-1-1. This service is for urgent medical situations if you or a member of your family, becomes ill and you are concerned. This replaces NHS Direct and our previous Out of Hours services.

When you ring the NHS 111, your call will be answered by the call centre at St Leonard’s Dorset. A trained member of staff will answer the telephone and take some details from you. They will pass these details straight to a doctor who will call you back to ask more about the problem. In conjunction with you they will decide the best option. Depending on the seriousness of the condition this may be:

  • Advice on the telephone
  • A visit to a local treatment centre
  • A home visit by a doctor, nurse or paramedic

‘Improved Access to General Practice’ appointments:
